By Toronto dermatologist Dr. Lisa Kellett packed her Clear acne-treatment line with healing and anti-aging properties for patients who found existing oral and topical products too drying.

Salicylic acid has long been a weapon of choice in the fight against uncomplicated acne. Along with herbal and botanical extracts, it’s a key ingredient in a number of new lines designed for adult skin. Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser and matting Herbal Moisturizer contain salicylic acid to clear skin and prevent new break-outs. Avon Solutions True Pore-Fection adds alpha and beta hydroxy acids to aid exfoliation. The five-piece line includes cleanser, toner and spot-clearing treatment. Acne fighting meets wrinkle reduction in Yves Rocher Pro-Retinol 100% Végétal Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Multi-Care, a matting cleanser and cream duo that pairs salicylic acid with Vitamin A.

For sensitive adult skin, Dr. Lisa Kellett, a cosmetic dermatologist in Toronto, developed Clear acne treatment, a four-product program that combines acne fighters with vitamin A and vitamin E, an antioxidant. A 2.5 per cent benzoyl peroxide treatment cream and a warming mask with salicylic acid are in the Clear lineup ($39.00 each, or $129 for a full-size starter kit).
