HOT TIPS SHOPPING Of-the-moment news from the retail world

By Susan Murray

CLEAN AND CLEAR: More than 70 million North Americans will suffer with acne in their post-adolescent years and no one really knows why. Stress, pollution, hormonal changes may all be culprits. Toronto dermatologist Dr. Lisa Kellett is addressing the problem – skin that is experiencing both ageing and acne – in a unique way. The Clear Acne Treatment Program is a simple four-step program (cleanser, acne treatment, moisturizer and mask) based on Dr. Kellett’s years of clinical experience. The treatment is designed to be gentle enough for ageing skin, yet strong enough to control adult acne.

SUBTLE SCENTS: Fruits and Passion is turning its attention to the warm vibes of Italy with its new Cucina Dolce collection. The line features soaps, candles and scented blocks of melt-it-yourself wax as well as accessories. Inspired by the original Cucina line, Dolce – Italian for dessert – is evocative of just that (think espresso, cream, nutmeg, orange zest and hazelnut), with four fragrances to choose from: Biscotti, Coffee, Zabaglione, Tiramisu and Hazelnut Torta. Can’t pick a favourite? Try the votive candle set ($36), which includes two of each scent.

TIFFANY TIME: Look out, clockwatchers. Tiffany and Co., the iconic purveyor of fabulous finery, recently launched the Tiffany Mark T-57 watch, the latest edition to the Tiffany Mark collection. Designed with the rugged gentleman in mind, the T-57 ($2,850) features five layers of corrosion resistant stainless steel, two bezel rings, Roman numerals and handmade two-tiered dials – palladium finished on the lower plates and galvanized with black gold on the upper plates. Great for accessorizing everything from pin-stripes to tennis whites and even trunks (the watch is water resistant up to 300 feet).

NICE CREAM: For nearly 40 years Clinique has dominated the way men and women moisturize. In fact, a bottle of the iconic yellow cream -Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion – is sold every four seconds somewhere in the world. Clinique is now introducing a sister product, Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, an oil-free alternative which locks in hydration. The gel aims to replicate skin’s natural moisture balance, is allergy-tested, fragrance free, non-acnegenic and clinically formulated by a dermatologist. Available at The Bay in a 15 ml tube ($15) or 125 ml pump ($31).
