DEPIGMENTATION AND HYPERPIGMENTATION TREATMENT INFORMATION

DLK Depigmentation Treatment eliminates unwanted skin blemishes and treats conditions such as Melasma, Hyperpigmentation, while improving signs of photo-aging and photo-damage, regulating sebaceous glands and reducing pore size.

The DLK Depigmentation Treatment addresses pigmentation issues or skin discolorations caused by many factors including sun exposure, photo-damage, aging, hormonal fluctuations (pregnancy or menopause) and trauma to the skin caused by acne. This treatment works by blocking the formations of melanin (pigment) inhibiting the production of tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for the formation of pigment in the skin.

TREATMENT BENEFITS:

  • Effective treatment for all skin types;
  • Rejuvenates skin and increases luminosity of complexion;
  • Skin-specific treatment customized to the needs of each patient;
  • Stimulates collagen and elastin.

THE SPOTLESS TREATMENT:
Active ingredients penetrate the skin to treat the pigmentation and turn the cells over reducing discolouration on the surface of the skin. The treatment consists of in-clinic procedure where a freshly-compounded mask is applied to the skin. The patient leaves with the mask on and, after a specified amount of time, the mask is washed off.  An at-home skincare maintenance kit is provided to the patient to maximize optimal results and recovery.  There is no discomfort during or after the procedure.

THE SPOTLESS LIGHT TREATMENT:
Active ingredients penetrate the skin to treat the pigmentation and turn the cells over reducing discolouration on the surface of the skin. The treatment consists of three in-clinic peel procedures applied to the skin. The patient leaves with the peel on and, after a specified amount of time, the peel is washed off.  An at-home skincare maintenance kit is provided to the patient to maximize optimal results and recovery.  There is no discomfort during or after the procedure.

PRE-TREATMENT:
If you have a history of cold sores please let us know and a prescription can be given to decrease the risk of an outbreak. The skin should not be tanned at the time of treatment. This treatment cannot be combined with other treatments such as chemical peels, IPL or lightening products, unless otherwise instructed by Dr. Kellett.

POST-TREATMENT:
When the mask is removed the skin may feel tight and appear slightly swollen. During the first week after treatment the skin will turn red. In some cases redness may persist for longer periods depending on your natural skin color and sensitivity to treatment. Flaking and peeling will occur between the second and third day. You may also experience an itching feeling and some burning on the face. To relieve discomfort, Fast repair cream is applied twice a day.

POST-TREATMENT APPLICATION SKIN-CARE:
At the time specified by your skincare professional as well as the following days wash the treated area using the post care products which are provided to you at the time of your appointment. You will also be given instructions on how to start using your maintenance cream (the at home portion of the treatment).

THE RESULTS:
Treatment is effective in up to 95% of all treatments; pigment will continue to improve over time with the use of treatment maintenance cream.  Results will vary but generally patients will see a significant improvement in the appearance of pigmented areas. Dark spots will lighten and skin texture and tone will improve.
